Disappointed But Optimistic

Another disappointing week, but we will not be swayed. We did not weigh ourselves the first week and we should have. We did not remember until we had already had our breakfast on Monday and we would like to do it first thing Monday mornings. That being said, we both showed a gain this week since the last time we weighed ourselves in January. We remain optimistic that we are doing good and we will be rewarded next week. Without delay, let’s get to the week.

Monday – Breakfast was a time to get rid of some stuff we had this past weekend. We both had a cinnamon roll left-over from Sunday, but I had a slice of pizza and some chips as well. For lunch, we both had a nice tossed salad with light dressing. Dinner was Orange Chicken and a can of soda each. We don’t have soda too often, but we picked some up for the gaming weekend and there were left-overs. Dessert was our Pumpkin Pie Shakes. I was able to stay within my calorie limit, but the can of regular soda and cinnamon roll sent Marie over.

Tuesday – Overnight was not nice to me. I was stressed about Marie’s new job and woke up and 12am and stress ate a bunch of chips (left-over still from the weekend). I did not have breakfast as a result of my overnight indiscretion. Marie had her usual breakfast of Polar Bread toast (I promise the recipe and blog are coming soon for this) with margarine and coffee with milk and sugar. She had a short day, so when she came home, we had lunch. We both had two Ham and Tomato Sandwiches and a tossed salad with dressing. Dinner was Orange Chicken again. Marie did a fair bit of walking today and therefore had a lot of left over calories. I did as well, but no exercise for me today.

Wednesday – This was a very descent day for both of us. Marie had her usual breakfast of Polar Bread toast with butter and coffee with milk and sugar. I ate breakfast a little later, so I had two Ham and Tomato Sandwiches. I did not have anything substantial for lunch, just some potato chips because I did not want to get too full because we have to eat dinner early, because we are going to bed early to be up at 3:30am. Marie had a tossed salad with dressing and cucumbers and celery with hummus on the side. Dinner for both of us was Orange Chicken and Marie had a can of soda with hers. Again, she did a lot of walking at her job, so she was well under her calorie count and I was under as well.

Thursday – Another boring breakfast of Polar Bread toast with margarine and coffee for Marie. I, however, knew of some eggs that were going to expire, so I took an opportunity to have them. I had scrambled eggs with ham and cheese on Polar Bread toast. I thought to add a little zing to it and added a very small amount of Sweet Baby Ray’s on top. I was delicious and something that I should not have too often. Lunch for me was two Polar Bread Ham and Tomato Sandwiches with a can of soda still left over from last weekend. Marie had a tossed salad with dressing and celery and hummus on the side. Dinner for both of us was Orange Chicken. We were both able to stay under our calorie count today again.

Friday – This was a bad day. We went to bed far too late last night, so we did not have breakfast when we woke up. On Fridays during the summer, I visit the special needs group at John Abbott College, where I am currently going to school full time. They love it when I bring Marie, so we decided to have lunch with them. While lunch was only cheeseburgers, fries and a soda, it set wheels in motion for a bad day. I also had to take my old truck down to the US to be recycled. When we came home, we were both too tired to cook, so we ordered, what we thought was a responsible meal from St-Hubert, that turned out to be A LOT more calories than we had planned on! After dropping the truck off in NY, Marie was a very sad Polar Bear (now you know why some foods we have are named with the Polar. Also, she calls me Grizzly so that accounts for the Egg McGrizzly breakfast sandwiches), so she went into a gas station and picked up some emotion snacks for the ride back. She nearly had double her amount of calories today and I went over by a lot as well. Bad, bad day!

Saturday – The day started out good enough. We both had Pancakes (mine with honey, hers with real maple syrup). For lunch, we both had grilled ham and cheese sandwiches with a little bit of Sweet Baby Ray’s on top. Dinner is where the day turned into another train wreck of a day. Marie made her family famous (meaning famous in our family) Polar Pizza. This meal sent us both over our calories. Me by a little, her by a lot, but not quite as bad as yesterday.

Sunday – The day that made up for it…a little bit. For breakfast, we both had Polar Bread Ham and Tomato Sandwiches. With it I had a can of soda and she had her normal coffee. Neither of us had lunch, because we ate breakfast too late. Dinner for us this week will be Spanish Rice Wraps. So, accordingly, that is what we had for dinner tonight. I only had about half of my calories and she was under by a lot (for her) as well.

So, that is the week. Looking back on it, I am not surprised that we gained, but we do not actually know where we started out the week, so there is no way to tell if we lost weight this week. We got on the scale and will do so again next Monday. This will let us truly know how we are doing and if we need to make any modifications to our plan.
